Thermal Oxidiser

A Thermal Oxidizer is a pollution control device used to treat and eliminate volatile organic compounds (VOCs), hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), and other toxic gases produced during industrial processes. It works by using high temperatures to break down and oxidize these pollutants into carbon dioxide (CO₂) and water vapor, effectively reducing their harmful impact on the environment.

The process involves drawing the polluted air into the thermal oxidizer, where it is heated to a temperature typically ranging from 760°C to 1,200°C (1,400°F to 2,200°F). At these elevated temperatures, the organic compounds in the air are oxidized, meaning they chemically react with oxygen to form less harmful substances. The heat can be generated through the combustion of a fuel source, such as natural gas, or by using a regenerative thermal oxidizer, which recycles heat to improve energy efficiency.

Thermal oxidizers are commonly used in industries such as chemical manufacturing, petroleum refining, paint booths, and food processing, where volatile chemicals are emitted as byproducts. They are highly effective at reducing harmful emissions and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
