A Venturi Scrubber is a type of wet scrubber used for removing fine particulate matter, dust, and gases from industrial exhaust streams. It operates based on the principle of the Venturi effect, where the gas stream is forced through a narrow throat (the Venturi), causing an increase in velocity and a decrease in pressure. This creates a high energy area where the pollutants are captured by the liquid spray introduced into the gas stream.
The scrubber typically consists of a venturi section, where the gas is accelerated, and a liquid spray system that injects a mist of water or chemical solution. The high-speed gas forces the droplets of liquid to collide with the particulate matter or gas contaminants, capturing and removing them. The cleaned gas is then passed through a separation section to remove any remaining liquid droplets before being released into the atmosphere.
